SHOWS SHOWS SHOWS
Tonight! Tomorrow! Next week!
During rehearsal this past week for E. Zaalan’s fantastic SYRIAN SOAP, I watched our stage manager Mars Juno Bartolome Neri (10/10 stage manager, absolutely perfect) take notes on their iPad with a magical pen and realized if my laptop was pure screen and I could write on it, I would be a totally different guy. I’d be a tech guy. No, I’ll never be a tech guy. But I sense a great change coming. Isn’t it a nice thing to get to know your own brain? It’s like when I decided to unroll craft paper on the ground and give collaborators markers or crayons. Everyone can write out whatever we’re thinking, and something about logging thoughts this way v. a Google doc sets me free.
I have 7,209,182 shows coming up, starting tonight with my perfect students. Press your finger to the image, or to the element in your technology that makes it feel in a different way like you’re pressing on the image, and you’ll be able to get yourself a little ticky.
After this 7pm diamond, my Brooklyn Comedy Collective clown intensive students present hot our fresh goodies. I don’t have a poster yet! I haven’t met my students! But here’s the link.
Syrian Soap - select ACCESS ticket for $10.50 entry
Written by E. Zaalan | Directed by Tallie Medel for Criminal Queerness Festival
Original direction & Dramaturgy by Natasha Mercado
June 24 - June 27th
Eat, pray, bathe with your ancestors in an intergalactic bathhouse in the afterlife and find out if you are your ancestor’s wildest dreams–or worst nightmare! Receive channeled advice, poetry, and a surprise visit from a traditional Syrian bathroom slipper (which may or may not be a metaphor for life under fascism). Underneath the silliness and suds, Syrian Soap is a love letter to revolution and unlocking joy and self-expression in a world on fire. And a reminder…your healing goes back 7 generations—but so do your fuck-ups!
